their JV team, while Tri-Valley - Le Roy raced everyone. While the schools didn’t race all of their girls, they still had quite a few more people to race than us. We only had nine girls, and a total of 39 girls ran in the race.
This meet wasn’t the greatest meet for the girls. Coach Albin wasn’t very happy with some of the times and doesn’t think we were properly prepared to run. Some meets go really well and some don’t because everyone has off days. However, Natalie Garneau, who is from Tri-Valley, placed second out of the 39 girls with a time of 20:51. Also, despite Grace Loy being out for a while after injuring her ankle, she still came in and ran the race with all she had. The final scoring was U-High first with 19 points, Tri-Valley - Le Roy with 44 points, and Normal West with 65. There were so many boys that they had to have two seperate races. The first race had all of the Tri-Valley boys in it, and the second race was all Normal West runners. The first race had 39 runners and the second race had 31. They raced against many very fast runners. The final scoring was first Normal West with 17 points, U-High with 58, and Tri-Valley - Le Roy with 69. The next meet isn’t until October 6th, and is at Maxwell Park against U-High again. On Monday, the team will be doing their annual Crazy Insane Run. It is a practice where each runner tries to run as far as they can. Some are even going for a half marathon! festivities were not able to happen. The realization for Seniors that this was their last meet began to set in.
Many runners felt pressured to get a personal best for the season because Moraine View is a pretty good course to run on. The head coach, Coach Albin, said that he wished the last home meet was a little bit later in the season when everyone is stronger and more in shape. However, the team was still ready to give it their all. The weather was cloudy and in the 70s with not much wind. It felt a little hot while running, but it was still fairly nice weather. The boys started off the meet at 4:00 pm with the girls following at 4:05. Tremont won against the boys by five points. As for the girls, it was a very close match with Tri-Valley - Le Roy winning by one point. Natalie Garneau, Senior from Tri-Valley, is the number one runner out of the girls and ran a personal best time for her entire cross country career. She ran in the 18:40s, which ranks her number five out of all of the girls who ever ran on the team. The Seniors this season are Emmy Tarr, Abby Levingston, Jalynn Ford, and Grace Loy from Le Roy. The Seniors from Tri-Valley are Natalie Garneau, Caitlin McCane, Spencer Williams, and Carter Cassidy. Congrats to all Seniors for having a great season so far and for all the hard work they’ve put in these last few years. The next meet will be Friday, September 25th against Normal West at Maxwell Park at 4:30.

The JV boys team started off the meet at 4:20. Following them was the Varsity boys at 5:00. Everyone ended up with varying times; some people didn’t improve from the last meet and some did improve. As a whole, all of the boys had solid times for them. The Varsity girls followed at 5:30; then lastly the JV girls at 6:10. Some had an average race, and some did not feel very well. Everyone has races that don’t always go as well, and quite a few girls hurt pretty badly from this meet. However, Faith and Maggie from Tri-Valley both got a personal best time. Despite having a race the day before, on Thursday at practice the team was ready to dive right back into training. They did a hard workout; 12 400s. During these 400s, they only got a 30 second break in between each one. They had to hit a certain time, which everyone did fantastic on. Next week, there is a meet on Tuesday at home against Tremont and a meet on Friday at and against Normal West. Tuesday will be the last home meet of the season. |
