there were seven races. Also, only top five teams and top five individuals made it to Sectionals instead of the usual seven.
The first race at 9:00 am was started out by girls ranked number one and two on their team. For us, this was Natalie and Avery. The next race was three and four girl runners; Lily and Caitlin. The last girls’ race was five, six, and seven runners Faith, Emmy, and Olivia. At the end, all of the times ran by everyone in each race were combined. Overall, we ranked number eight out of 11 teams. Sadly, this wasn’t enough to qualify us for Sectionals. However, Natalie Garneau from Tri-Valley qualified for Sectionals individually with a time of 19:49. The first race for the boys was ran by Henry, the number one runner. Next was two and three; Jamie and Carter. Three and four runners followed ran by John and Andrew. Lastly, six and seven runners were Kaleb and Alex; who also happen to be twins. The boys had an extra race because they had one more team than the girls. They finished 11th out of 12th. No boys qualified as a team or individually for Sectionals. This last meet was a sad one for many runners. With seven Seniors this year, it was many of their last cross country races ever. The seven Seniors are Emmy, Abby, Grace, Natalie, Caitlin, Jalynn, and Carter. Congrats to Natalie who will be moving on to Sectionals next Saturday on October 31 in Elmwood. She has also committed to running for Heartland next fall! The team also had an end-of-year banquet last Thursday to present awards and honor the Seniors. Each Senior received a blanket as a gift. They also each put together a slideshow of pictures and memories from over the years that everyone got to watch. This was a tear-jerker for many. The team voted on who they thought were the MVP and Most Inspirational from the boys and the girls. For the boys, MVP winner was Henry and Most Inspirational was Carter. The girls MVP winner was Natalie and Most Inspirational was Lily. The banquet was a great way to conclude a great season!
