available, everyone was going to have to try their hardest and work well as a team if they planned on winning any of their rounds.
Le Roy’s first round was against Blue Ridge Scholastic Bowl, and they had only 6 people present for their team. Going into the match, both teams were fairly matched against each other. Blue Ridge had a strong start, with Le Roy struggling to remember information or to beat Blue Ridge to the buzzer. By halftime, Blue Ridge was beating Le Roy 120 to 50. Le Roy didn’t give up, but ended up falling behind even more. Le Roy lost their first match at 270 to 120 in Blue Ridge’s favor. Needless to say, Le Roy had a rough start. With renewed energy, Le Roy started their second round against Christian Luther, who also had very few team members present. Le Roy gained the first points of the round, and eventually took a major lead against Christian Luther. By halftime, the round was 110 to 90 in Le Roy’s favor. Although not a big gap, it was a step in the right direction. Luckily, Le Roy pulled even farther ahead and won their second round 190 to 110. This put the team in great spirits, and they were ready for their final round of the night. With new pep and energy, Le Roy faced off against their final team of the night. Le Roy started off very strongly, gaining 30 points with their first toss-up and three bonuses. The opposing team pulled ahead, though, and won the first half of the round at 100 to 80. Le Roy wasn’t going to back down that easily and put up a great fight to gain as many points as they could. Their efforts paid off, and Le Roy won their final round of the night at 180 to 150. Despite losing one of their rounds, Le Roy was thrilled to have won two out of three rounds. The team went home with bright smiles and renewed energy for their next meet they would be competing in. If you want to see the Le Roy High School Scholastic Bowl team in action, they will be facing off again on the 6th of February at a home meet at 4:30 P.M. They will also be going to the Masonic Bowl on the 15th of February at 8 A.M. and would love your support.
