participated in one of the harder brackets seen at the tournament. Ethan sadly lost his first match Thursday, but came back with a vengeance. Ethan won his match Friday and won his first match on Saturday. Ethan lost later that Saturday against the #1 seed, but his wins set off a chain reaction in the team.
Owen Gulley, the second wrestler to go to state, had the most successful weekend out of the entire team. Owen not only won his first match Thursday, but created a new state record for the fastest fall in 30 seconds at 138lbs. He went on to end the state tournament with 3-2, coming in fourth in his weight class. We can safely say Owen’s determination and strength truly paid off. Our third wrestler, Ty Baxter, did an amazing job alongside his team mates. He ended the weekend with 3-2 and came in fourth for his weight class as well. It seems our team had a small streak of wins for that weekend! As our last wrestler in the tournament, Grant Sant Amour had a terrific experience with this event being the first time he was a state qualifier. Despite losing his first match Thursday, he finished our the tournament with a 2-2 record. For his first time competing in this setting, we are all proud of his accomplishment. The Le Roy Tri-Valley High School Wrestling Team has not stopped working. They will continue to have more meets as we move on through the year. Make sure you come see one to see the pride and courage our team has!
